we got a TD3 coming up soon. sept 23 is the big day. there are quite a number of little changes that have been implemented and i think you will like them. you can view the TD3 changelog to see what the team has been up to since TD2.
we’re looking forward to seeing you there, we have a wiki page up for it. if you download the currently linked release, it will be TD2R2, as TD3’s release won’t be up until the start of Testing Day.
the TD’s are growing, and every time we have one we get a few more users. we’re hoping to grow a little bit more on sept 23, and with your help our project will become better than ever. see you there!
it’s a new beginning for the ol’ Miss Silent, and in celebration she’s going to make a bold experiment. this is right, regular blogging! we can’t claim she will have a regular schedule per se, but we can say that several posts a week or so will not be an unexpected event. pester me in the comments for more and do make suggestions if you like. i need *you*!here’s a little status update of the community project.
it’s kind of slow, and blame that on me. i have been the Slackstress X-TrEmE when it has come to this. i have a lot of projects, for SharpE and personally, that i keep in a handy little rotation. think of a halo that revolves at variable speeds and has taskbar icons in it. that is the rotation. it’s got a lot of things in it. some of them get moved to the back so much that it doesn’t matter how much or how fast it spins, they’re continually pushed back. i’m not naming any names but the core community building for a certain desktop environment was getting a little cozy with my medulla oblongata. time to break up that budding buddyhood. so where are we headed?
good thing i asked. there are a lot of things going on undercover here at Slackers, Inc. and i am going to expose them to you, the reader. first of all, the main site looks different from this page, and this page is different than the wiki. are we doing it all piecemeal? no. there’s a major site overhaul going on behind the scenes, both the look and the function of the site. this means that at the moment the skinning on all the site elements does not match. this doesn’t impede using the site though, so don’t be afraid! things will be brand-new soon and when they are, we suspect you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how it turns out.
you may already know we have a wiki and even some new forums (currently being under fixination) for the project. the website will be overhauled very soon and the future holds exciting possibilities. with the addons site, coded by our very own Captain Heriss0n, the SharpE community will have the power to create and share content. we’re talking modules, services, icon sets, and whatever else kinds of content can be used with our dear shell. in conjunction with this our wiki will be bursting at the seams with documentation. at the moment, it is not, but it’s getting there. glacialfury recently took over as The Man In Charge of Wiki Production and Productivity, and with his keenly organized mind (if it’s not true blame him for putting up a good front) has assigned tasks to documentation minions (aka volunteers). if you like to write documentation or just need some examples for your technical writing class, join up! everyone wins!
in the vein of user-created content, we want more! we have shiny SDK’s for you to use for coding. At the moment we have a Module Development Kit for creating SharpBar modules, and a Service Development Kit for making SharpCore services. For this you will need Turbo Delphi Explorer. This download requires a registration key from CodeGear but it’s FREE for the key and for the download, so don’t be ascairt!
wondering how you can become involved? check out the Help Wanted page, which lists various things that need to be done. we’re happy to have volunteers and the community at large and team will thank you. as we grow, we’re also trying to grow our community and we’re happy you’re with us.
keep an eye out for more blog posts, and poke around the site and the wiki. changes are in the air, and though it’s taking us a little while to get everything unified, once it is we will be revving it up and zooming ahead!
welcome to the new community site! right now, you can see, it’s just a skeleton of its future self. the structure of the community site is very much in flux for now until there’s a better idea of how the pages will be used. if you have any ideas, suggestions, or anything else, please post a comment or if the page in question is on the wiki, feel free to edit it.
we want you to feel right at home, so do wander around!
